The Global Campaign against IEDs places a very high priority on ensuring the accuracy and objectivity of the incidents that are reported in the IED Incident Tracker. In addition to the information submitted to the Tracker, we require at least two additional independent sources describing the same incident in order to verify the report. This increases the time from receipt to posting and can result in editing of reports to remove information that cannot be independently verified. As a result, critical information known to an accurate source may, unfortunately, be lost.
Qualifying yourself or your organization as a "Trusted Reporter" pre-qualifies submissions as objective and verified reports of an incident. While all reports remain non-attributed, qualifying yourself or your organization as a Trusted Reporter ensures your observations are reflected without significant editing by PIF staff. More importantly, input from Trusted Reporters is published without the need for independent verification. This results in a much more rapid dissemination of information.
